Why 'Holy Grit & Courage' Isn't Optional For Christians Today
Interview w/ Orthodox Priest, Fr. Patrick Cardine, on Orthodox Evangelism & Missions
Two months ago, I had the wonderful opportunity of interviewing Fr. Patrick Cardine of St. Patrick’s Orthodox Church in Bealeton, Virginia. (It has been available for paid subscribers for some time but is now available to all). We touched on multiple topics, but Fr. Patrick primarily shaped his talk around missions and evangelization. I left this conversation not only feeling inspired to to embrace the Great Commission with greater courage and faith but also a sharper vision of what this media ministry, Barrel Aged Faith, is supposed to be about.
I really hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did. Much of it is a breath of fresh air during these challenging times.
The Barrel’s Mission
Being inspired from this talk, Barrel Aged Faith is expanding its content so that an even wider audience can be reached. Here is how:
1) In person interviews w/ Orthodox Priests, Scholars, Authors, & Artists about their personal stories of faith,
2) Orthodox Bible Studies w/ Seraphim Hamilton & co.,
3) Engaging mini-series that compare Orthodox theology to contemporary works such as ‘The Unseen Realm of Dr. Michael Heiser and Stranger Things” or C.S. Lewis’ Great Divorce w/ a special ‘guest host’ (To be announced!).
Many people are finding themselves interested in Christianity once again but are not quite ready for a commitment to a Church or theological tradition. This is where Barrel Aged Faith hopes to help bridge the gap through ‘cultural evangelization’ as well as ‘creative apologetics.’
Upcoming Interviews & News
I also recently interviewed Fr. Joshua Gengig who was a former Lutheran Pastor that I believe you will quite enjoy. (Part 1 will be an early release for paid subscribers; Part 2 will be exclusively for paid subscribers) Here is a clip below that we recorded this last Thursday, which related to the Kirk shooting and the current America crisis: https://youtube.com/shorts/lvLqyy6SgUk “How is an Orthodox Christian to respond?”
Also, my friend David Bahler of The Sacred Life is coming out with a mini-series on icons and symbolism which I hope you will check out.
I interviewed David a few months ago as we discussed his journey from the Mennonite tradition to Holy Orthodoxy:
Also, if you missed my interview w/ Fr. Christopher Foley (from the band Luxury), you should certainly check it out as we explored ‘deconstruction’ of faith and how seekers are finding Christ in the Orthodox Church.
Lastly, Fr. Joseph Lucas is doing a paid course through St. Athanasius Orthodox College on his book, “How To Read the Fathers” that you should check out! You may also find my course: “Patristic Wardrobe: Finding the Fathers through the Thought of C.S. Lewis” which is now only $40. https://courses.bothanddesign.com/all-courses/
Here is our interview from this year:
Please keep Barrel Aged Faith in your prayers. We hope to play a small part in bringing more people “To Christ and the Ancient Faith for the Renewal of the World’s Future!”
